It's a hardcore roguelike RPG of fine quality. The game, has been funded through Kickstarter about a year ago, where if I remember correctly, it exceeded its funding goal by a insanely large margin. Everyone was confident that Darkest Dungeon was going to become a legitimate breath of fresh air. Now that it's here, we finally have the proof of it.
The combat system is turn-based, and instead of revolving around wide area of action, it instead features tight 2D sidescrolling scenarios. Positioning is super important, though what matters the most, is how your heroes feel. The game's concept is that you have normal people at your disposal, not anything like superhumans. They are going to be affected by many diseases found along their way. Or, if the light goes out in the deepest of the dungeons, their mental fortitude can be strongly compromised.
